The Real Game Series

organization for The Real Game Series™,
a hands-on, practical, experiential learning program for youth and adults.
Participants experience various aspects of the working world by "living" them
within the safety of the classroom/learning center or in other structured

Six games are available for different age
groups, as described below:
The Play Real Game:
Targeted to elementary school students (3rd and 4th grade). Theme =
“Living
and working in a community," 10 core sessions, 10-11 hours. Students are
introduced to basic life/work concepts and vocabulary as they play the role of
adults who create neighborhoods, find jobs for themselves and others, and work
together as town citizens to accomplish a worthwhile goal.

The Make It Real Game:
Targeted to middle school students (5th and 6th grade). Theme ="Working in a small company involved in international business," 12 core sessions, 15-16 hours. Students role-play as adults
and take a simulated journey into the global economy while reinforcing the importance of teamwork and cooperation. Language arts and social studies abilities are developed as students discover that
there are many ways to achieve an occupational role and that everyone's work is important.

The Real Game:
Targeted
to middle school (7th and 8th grade) students, and can be
played in 20-25 hours during the course of a semester or a year. Organized in five units
with 17 core activities (more, optional). Meanwhile,
computing-based activities link to school subjects and
National Career Development Guidelines.

The Be Real Game:
Targeted to high school students (9th and 10th grade). Theme
= "Balancing
work, family, leisure and community while building a career," three
units with 17 core sessions, 17-21 hours. Students see how a person's career is built
with everyday choices and decisions, starting in childhood and encompassing
every area of life. They role-play a high school student through to an
experienced adult worker in a variety of employment, unemployment, and family
situations; they explore the importance of transferable skills, self-knowledge,
life-long learning, and career planning.

The Get Real Game:
Targeted to high school students (11th and 12th grade). Theme =
“Rehearsing gateway scenarios for the transition from school to adult life," 13 core sessions, 13-20 hours. Students have
a wide array of occupational possibilities and simulate a five-year school-to-work transition. They explore different gateways to their goals, including postsecondary education, internships or
apprenticeship, on-the-job training, workplace experience, military service, volunteer and community work, entrepreneurship, and self-employment.

Real Times, Real Life:
Targeted to adult
learners.
Theme = “Finding Opportunities in adversity and learning to manage one's career building process," 3 units
with 19 core sessions, 22-26 hours. This game helps adult learners to put their lives in perspective, relieving the negative self-image that often comes with unemployment so
that they can begin to plan their careers with confidence. Role-playing as workers from 1900 to
the present and working in teams, participants learn how to assess their situations and create realistic action plans.
