College Vision

In 1996 the North Carolina General Assembly authorized the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority to create and operate a parental savings trust fund, and the first investments were accepted into the College Vision Fund in 1998. In 2000 the Authority was authorized to offer an expanded program for families to choose their preferred investment or savings vehicle from an array of options. Now known as North Carolina’s National College Savings Program, the program offers families the opportunity to accumulate funds to pay for education through College Foundation Inc. Earnings on savings are both state and federally tax-free when used for qualified higher education expenses such as tuition, fees, room and board at an eligible institution. For more information about this program, contact the Program Administrator at College Foundation Inc. at 1-800-600-3453 or visit the College Foundation of North Carolina Web site at http://www.cfnc.org/savings
